in the morning, i sang one part of three

while all the rest of us sat hopefully about the fire
for our breakfast
between the knees and the headrest
you'll find the electric hum of everything from before us

i dream of Juneau
and of Adelaide
before the runway from the BNIA takes me, someday,
to an avenue
with some red brick that the ivy's woven into
like i used to see in prints of architects
in the little visions once set above my neck
as i fell asleep in the twin bed on the right side

in my head, i sang a simple harmony
she was searching for the person she should be
while the rest of them sat perfectly happy
with passions and convictions left amidst a slight intermission,
